- In automotive, process mapping is a core part of the manufacturing process design, where a process is bread boarded schematically and physically, in detail to minimize non-value added cost. Burns Bridge has used this tool in several locations to achieve large cost reductions and to set up highly efficient manufacturing work cells..
- In an engineering pump manufacturing plant, lean process mapping was used to map the part and pump delivery process in detail. Subsequently with minor (trivial) operational improvements in the plant, on time delivery rose from 55% to 98% for parts and from 35% to 96% for pumps for the first time in the 40 year history of the plant.
